Dining in Victoria BC

The most popular eateries close to our Victoria B&B, but not right downtown are:

The Fin and Gill Bar and Grill - At West Bay Marina is located just a 10 minute walk. This licensed restaurant is open until 11pm and has an extensive menu to enjoy while you watch the action at the marina. The little harbour ferries are tucked away at this marina each night, and lots of interesting float homes are moored here.

Four Mile Pub and Restaurant – Old Island Highway just east of Admiral’s Rd. The fourth oldest house in Victoria, and a chequered history! From Bawdy house to carriage stop, this Tudor Inn has fabulous flower beds, and great food at reasonable prices. The restaurant does an afternoon tea with a reputation for the best in town. The pub is a favourite of locals.

Ocean Pointe Resort – Just before downtown, this beautifully located hotel has three restaurants and bars with varying prices, views and ambience.

Salty’s Fish and Chips – Just a 10 minute walk, or a couple of minutes by car. This local take-out shop is run by a crusty Manchester fellow. Your meal comes in newspaper and is a whopper of a deal!

Spinnakers – Catharine St and Esquimalt Rd. Right on the outer harbour, this restaurant and brew pub is just a couple of minutes up the road from us, or a wonderful 25 minute stroll along the oceanfront boardwalk. From here you can see all the harbour activities and scenery.

Downtown Victoria.
These restaurants have all been recommended at one time or another by our guests:

Baan Thai – great Thai food on Blanshard Street.

The Bengal Lounge – a taste of old India at the Empress. Jazz on weekends and a curry buffet. Deep leather couches and a tiger skin over the huge fireplace.

The Black Olive – Mediterranean, Italian and West Coast blend.

Blethering Place Tearoom and Restaurant – Really fun on weekends with dinner shows. Celtic and old English pub entertainment.

Café Brio – Gourmet food. Cuisine of Vancouver Island

Café Mexico – Authentic Mexican food, adobe interior.

Camille’s – Very European ambience – below street in Bastion Square.

Chandler’s Seafood House – Seafood, steak, pasta.

Darcy’s Wharfside Pub – contemporary menu, overlooking the harbour.

Elephant & Castle – Selection of international beers, single malts.

Empress Room – Our favourite. We have a deal(www.victoriabandbs/packages) with them for our guests to enjoy a very classy dinner experience. Harp music, tapestry-covered walls, carved ceilings.

Ferris’ Oyster Bar & Grill – fresh raw local and east coast oysters. Pastas, steak and seafood.

Green Cuisine – Johnson St – for the vegetarian, cafeteria style.

Il Terrazzo – Fine Italian. Candlelit courtyard dining if you choose.

Japanese Village Restaurant – prepared at your table.

Julia’s Place – Extensive Italian menu.

Keg Steakhouse - Right on the harbourfront, and always good steaks, prime rib.

Kipling’s – At the Empress, a fabulous buffet or a la carte meal in a beautiful setting.

Le Petit Saigon – Vietnamese, apparently funky.

Milestone’s Restaurant – Right on the harbour walkway. You can sit on their patio and see all the action.

Ming’s Restaurant – Good Chinese food. The inside is a pleasant surprise with huge Koi tanks and a fountain.

Nautical Nellie’s – Try their seafood crepes! Seafood, steak, pasta, chicken and great desserts.

Old Spaghetti Factory – Reasonably priced and reliably good. Pasta, soup and salad.

Pablo’s Dining Lounge – French cuisine.

Pagliacci’s – great cheesecake! Live music.

Paprika Bistro – a delightful surprise with East European and Indian dishes.

Periklis Greek restaurant – Greek and western. Belly dancing!

Pescatore’s Fish House – never had a bad word on this one. Great artwork. Fresh lobster and crab in tanks.

Re-Bar – vegetarian in Bastion Square.

Sam’s Deli – They’ll make your soup and sandwich just the way you like them. Right next to the Empress.

Sauce Bar & Grill – Tasty and popular, in a great location. Reasonable pub prices.

Siam Restaurant - Siam Thai is a family run Thai restaurant on Fort St near Wharf St in downtown Victoria.

Sticky Wicket – Popular for its location in the thick of things, and old English style pub, but with a great roof-top patio too.

Taj Mahal – This East Indian restaurant has a great reputation.

Tapa Bar – very popular with the locals. Fine Latin cuisine.

Temple Restaurant - Set in an 1890's heritage building, the interior of the restaurant is decidedly cosmopolitan, hip and modern. Revel in the ambiance of the clean design while enjoying Northwest cuisine. Incorporating local, seasonal ingredients to create interesting twists to classic cooking. Menu changes seasonally.

Wharfside Eatery – Local seafood. Fine view.

White Heather Tea Room – Small café setting with excellent prices and fantastic food. Lots of choices of tea, including herbal infusions.
